Sao Paulo, Brazil, is the most heavily populated city in South America, with over 11 million residents in the city itself and over 21 million in the metropolitan area. About 5 million people use the city's mass transit system daily.
Over the last few years, Samsung/GVI Security Solutions (Carrollton, TX, USA) has been awarded contracts for several projects in South America, including stadiums in Ecuador and a Latin-American prison. The most recent of these is Sao Paulo's mass transit system.
The project is based on an internet-protocol (IP) video surveillance solution using Samsung Electronics security products including high resolution and pan-tilt zoom (PTZ) day/night cameras.
"As their mass transit system rapidly grows to meet the needs of their expanding population, the ease of deployment and rapid scalability of our GVI Samsung IP video solution made it the ideal choice for a system with an ongoing need to continually upgrade and expand its video security infrastructure," said Fernando Tomasiello, GVI senior vice president of international operations and sales.
