At the president's inauguration, the U.S. security agencies (the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, the FBI, CIA, Secret Service, and the National Guard) used video surveillance to monitor and track suspicious activity in the crowd.
BridgeWave Communications (Santa Clara, CA, USA) provided the network backbone. The company's AR80 and AR80X gigabit wireless products were chosen for their effectiveness and reliability. Connectivity Solutions Inc. (CSI) (Herndon, VA, USA), a value added reseller specializing in design and deployment of wired and wireless solutions, implemented this critical video surveillance project.
The network required ultra-high capacity Gigabit Ethernet to handle the large volume of video traffic, and installation within 10 days. Therefore, easily deployable equipment was essential. BridgeWave complied with these requirements. CSI set up two AR80X links and two AR80 links on various roof top locations. Despite the rain, snow and low temperatures, CSI had the entire solution up and running in five days. The cameras operated flawlessly at the inauguration.
"Our team provided the city with an advanced video surveillance network for this momentous occasion in large part due to BridgeWave's robust products," said Andy Mortenson, president of CSI. "We were pleased to be a part of the success of the 44th presidential inauguration," added Amir Makleff, CEO of BridgeWave.
